Dedicated to working with the people and communities of our district.

I am:

A devoted husband of 31 years and proud father of three now-adult children;

A proud New Mexican since moving to this state in 1993;

The former director of WNMU’s Deming Campus, where I worked tirelessly to add to the range of educational opportunities available to students in southwestern New Mexico;

A twice-elected member of the Deming Public Schools Board of Education, and

A university professor of history with research interests and publications in the borderlands, Inter-American Relations, the enslavement of Indians in New Mexico, and the methodology for teaching history online.

I will:

Work to secure infrastructure improvements in southwestern New Mexico that will enable our region to capture a larger share of international trade with Mexico

Fight to make the costs of vocational, technical, and university education more affordable for students

Identify incentives to help retain critical service professionals in our rural communities

Improve eligibility standards for access to Medicaid for senior citizens who are Medicare-eligible.

Fund resources to provide greater opportunities for children in our area, especially those in foster care.
